Mayor Kirk Caldwell today announced that Governor David Ige has approved the City and County of Honolulu’s amended order that removes “bars” as a designated business or operation from Exhibit A (effectively shutting down bars). The closure of O‘ahu bars will be re-evaluated in three weeks. Enforcement will begin on Friday, July 31. The change is due to ongoing and heightened public health concerns linked to the spread of COVID-19.
In addition, changes to the Restaurant provision in the Order prohibits the sale, service, and consumption of liquor on the premises after 10 p.m. daily, also beginning Friday, July 31.
Restaurants found in noncompliance with the Order shall be subject to immediate closure for a 24 hour period effected by the Honolulu Police Department and/or the Honolulu Liquor Commission.
