County announces changes in Standard Operating Procedures for the Department of Parks and Recreation


The County of Kaua‘i announces the following changes in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Waimea and Kapa‘a swimming pools in order to provide for the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Kaua‘i from the potential spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).


Effective Tuesday, June 2, the Waimea and Kapa‘a swimming pools will reopen to the public and follow Centers of Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Staff will check in patrons before they enter the pool, and a maximum of six people will be allowed in the Waimea swimming pool and a maximum of seven in the Kapa‘a pool. Social distancing measures will be in place, and swimmers will be required to swim or exercise in designated lanes.

Additionally, patrons will be allowed to wait on the bleachers.


The hours of operation is as follows:

• Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.;

• Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.;

• Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.;

• Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; and

• Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
