Honolulu, Hawai‘i – The Hawaii State Senate today passed the third reading of Senate Bill 2140 relating to taxation, extending the period in which a county may adopt a surcharge on state tax, under certain conditions, from March 31, 2019, to June 30, 2021.
The bill was introduced by Senate President Ronald D. Kouchi (Kaua‘i, Ni‘ihau), and passed third reading by a vote of 21-2.
The bill was transmitted to the House of Representatives, which has its own related bill in House Bill 1715.
